Jim Fixx became famous for running.
Winston Churchill became famous for cigars, alcohol, stress, and probably never worrying about his mile time.
Yet Fixx died at 52. Churchill lived to 90.
So what does that mean?
It does not mean jogging automatically kills you. And it does not mean cigars and whiskey are a longevity plan — sorry, Churchill fans.
But it does raise an uncomfortable question:
Can a man be “fit” and still not be truly healthy?
For men over 40, cardio alone is not enough. You need muscle. You need smart nutrition. You need recovery. You need to know what is happening under the hood — not just how far you can run.
Because you may be able to outrun a bad mood.
But you may not be able to outrun bad exercises that might be better than sitting on the couch, but not ideal for longevity.
Be aware.
